Doctors Office Indoor and Outdoor Signage

Calico Creative recently finished installing outdoor and indoor signage for Ovalle MD Family Medicine in Fairfield, California. They had worked with Assiduous Design to create their branding and logo. We were given the task of taking what was created and producing an outdoor post and panel sign, a marquee insert, a dimensional logo, dimensional letters and a sneeze guard.

The first step was to visit the location and provide a site survey. Doing a visual inspection of the site allows us to get accurate measurements, photos to use in mockups, a first-hand look at all challenges and most importantly to spend time with the client to hear what they need done. This is also the time to see if a project is going to require any permits from the city or county prior to the installation.

The biggest challenge with the outdoor signage was the age and condition of the marquee sign. We attempted to get the property owner to touch up the rust, but they weren’t interested. They also were not that interested in trimming back the growth blocking business names on the marquee. We took care of the hedge trimming so that Ovalle MD’s space on the sign could be seen.

The post and panel sign was a new edition to the property. We used 6mm ACM for the sign itself. This material is built to be outside and can be printed on both sides directly. No vinyl or other material needed. As for the posts and frame, vinyl posts were used. When doing our stie survey, not only did we see the rusty marquee sign, but we also saw other metal signage with significant rust. Vinyl seemed to be the best material to avoid any costly repairs or replacement in the future.

A challenge with the inside signage was the slatted wall. We had to be very precise with our measurements because we were going to be hanging a dimensional logo. Our experience with measuring and installing is vast and the installation of the logo went perfectly.  We directly printed on a 6mm PVC material and cut it to the shape of the doctor’s logo.

Two elements that we are super proud of are the .25” dimensional letters on the desk and the .25” thick custom-made sneeze guard. Both the letters and the sneeze guard helped tie the office space together with the dimensional logo. Both these elements also show that Calico Creative is a sign shop that does more than just printed signage.
